Overview
And now we've moved on to assessment...the magical word that seems to strike fear among students and loathing from teachers, especially if you put the word "standardized" in front of it. But we are not hear to discuss those kinds of assessments. We want to examine the affordances and features of different online assessment tools we can use to determine our students knowledge, skills, and understanding. I will say the quality of an assessment should primarily be judged on the questions that are posed rather than the manner in which they are posed. But, we need to acknowledge that certain tools are better at doing certain things. You can hammer a nail with a screw driver, but there are other tools that would work much better. The same is true for online assessments. Some tools are great at doing fact recall assessments, while others allow teachers to determine students' various levels of understanding. Some allow teachers to conduct a full analysis of the data while others only collect the data.
In this assignment, you will consider how technology can allow you to assess your students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding using online assessment tools by describing, using, and reviewing two of the assessment programs from the following list:

You will describe, use, and review two online tools from the list above that you could use to assess your students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding. In your description of each tool, you need to include the following:
- A link the tool and an image associated with tool
- In your description, you should consider the types of questions that are offered, number of students who can play, the type of feedback given to students, the data management, the ease of setting up an assessment in the tool, and whether it allow students to be assessed as a group.
- The ordering information including the differences between the free version and the paid version (if applicable)
- Develop an assessment using the tool that you could use with your future students. You need to:
- Describe the grade level and content you would assess including the standard (if applicable)
- Provide a link to the assessment and include the appropriate login information such that I, the instructor, can take the quiz.
- Provide screen shots of the assessment from both the students’ and teacher’s perspective.
- Reflect and recommendation to other teachers who are considering using this tool to assess their students. Include which types of assessment you think align best with the tool and whether you would recommend teachers use it in their classroom.
